Overview

ProfitLint ("the Extension") is a Chrome browser extension developed by Sifu Song. It performs website health diagnostics — including security, compliance, SEO, AI SEO, and performance analysis — directly in your browser. This policy explains what data the Extension accesses, how it is processed, and what is stored.

Data Processed Locally

When you run a scan, the Extension reads the currently open web page to analyze:

  1. HTML structure, meta tags, and visible content
  2. Performance metrics (LCP, CLS, FCP, TTFB) from the browser Performance API
  3. Public files such as robots.txt, sitemap.xml, and llms.txt (fetched from the site origin)
  4. HTTP security response headers (via a HEAD request to the page URL)

All diagnostic logic runs locally in your browser via content scripts and the extension service worker. We do not operate a backend that receives your page HTML or scan results.

Data Stored on Your Device

The Extension uses Chrome's chrome.storage.local API to save:

  1. Diagnostic reports and scan history (scores, issue lists, URLs, timestamps)
  2. User preferences (language, optional AI API key, custom report header)

This data remains on your device unless you uninstall the Extension or clear extension storage. Uninstalling permanently deletes locally stored reports and settings.

What We Do Not Collect

The Extension does not:

  1. Transmit page content or scan reports to our servers
  2. Require account registration or login
  3. Track browsing history across sites beyond the pages you explicitly scan
  4. Sell or share personal data with third parties for advertising

Third-Party Services

AI API key (optional): If you configure an AI API key in Settings, it is stored locally in Chrome storage. The Extension does not send this key to our servers; any AI requests would be made directly from your browser to the provider you configure.

Permissions

The Extension requests Chrome permissions necessary for its function:

  1. activeTab / scripting / tabs — to analyze the page you choose to scan
  2. storage — to save reports and settings locally
  3. host_permissions (<all_urls>) — to scan any http/https website you navigate to and fetch public SEO files

The Extension cannot run on Chrome-protected pages (e.g., Chrome Web Store, chrome:// pages).

Children's Privacy

The Extension is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected on this page with an updated date.
